The tombstone of Josef de Tomar is dated 1351AD. This replica is mounted in the wall of the present cemetery. The original tombstone was found in Faro in the early 1900's and in the 1930's it was removed (without permission) to Tomar, where it is in the Tomar Synagogue Museum.

The Pentateuch in Hebrew was the first book ever published in Portugal. It was printed by Samuel Gacon in 1487 in Faro.
